An abandoned lot inside Casa Basalta was transformed into a contemplative, relaxing and immersive garden, with a small Japanese-style forest using local species. In the studio we worked on this project with total creative freedom. Elements of Japanese gardens and solutions to adapt them to our ecosystem were proposed. We started by modifying the topography of the soil, and arrived at a visual that shows the colorimetry in the variety of species that change in each season of the year. This design achieves harmony between its elements in a bamboo path and overgrown trees that surround a Zen garden with large rocks. Umai's secret garden has become a space to escape the city and immerse ourselves in a state of relaxation, tranquility and rest.
